MUSIC

Gnomusy spends a lot of his free time writting and sequencing digital music with his computer and his KORG X3 keyboard. He claims to have developed his own style, although he has been significantly influeced by Mike Oldfield, Jean Michel Jarre and Vangelis works.

He is trying to find new mind landscapes through digital sound generation research and its connection to human emotions. Dynamic textures, changing scenarios, fresh expositions roll along his songs in a straigth-way style.

"Since I was a boy I am used to write my own music. I consider music a sublime way of expression. It ties all of us together, and help us to understand the universal order".

"I am not trying to be commercial, only to share emotions with other people. I consider music a universal good that has to be shared in order to give it sense. In this terms music is close related to several human feelings, like hate, will or love".

Let's take a close look at some of his compositions. (Chronological order)

VIRTUALITY II  (©1994)

This music essay (2'55''), the first sequenced for his Korg X3 keyboard, describes most of Gnomusy mind landscapes. It is based upon a frenetic hyperactive vision of life, with a strong influence of technology. Its mantric conception tries to relate the high concentration needed in order to conceive and orchestrate new creations sprouting from the inner mind.

LUK  (©1994)

Trying to discover the relationship, if any, between traditional instruments and Hi-Tech sounds Luk was conceived. Pan flute melodies, pipe organ fillings and sawtooth-wave sounds are conducted together along a set of changing stages that mostly describes a galloping horse riding trough a dense prairie.(This song is dedicated to Xurxo, my best loved brother)

SAINTÉ (©1994)

This short sequence (2'13'') relates the adventure of a celtic boy, looking for his lost horse through the woods and cliffs surrounding his ancient town. The scene is seen, first, at ground level and, at one certain point, the observer takes off and begins to glide over the whole landscape as a big eagle. The song is trying to capture and transmit the feeling of freedom of a boy in a wild nature. (This song is dedicated to Elfoz)

FUZZY (©1994)

Imagine a lonely mountain biker on top of Picos de Europa (northern Spain) range. His quick and dangerous descent through foggy prairies following narrow footpaths flanked by steep abyss, down to bottom of the valley is described here. The final dance is clearly inspired in traditional northwest music, changing dramatically the initial song exposition, on the purest Gnomusy style. A curious musical lace work, namely a 3/4 leading melody running on a 4/4 time, can be found here.

SCENT OF LIGHT (©1995)

Perhaps Gnomusy's most romantic composition. Looking for autumn mood at a beautiful public park in Madrid, this song relates the peacefully dusks at a certain time in the day in our best loved park, El Retiro. The beauty is enhanced here with simplicity, like sunset beams going through falling leaves into the water. (This song is dedicated to Elena)

ALTAIR (©1995)

This truly inspired composition describes the inmensity of a lost Himalayan landscape, when the sun strikes just the highest peaks with a red gold light. A lonely observer, trying to understand what is in front of his eyes, feels how his spirit begins to raise over the white infinity an vanishes with the clouds. Some tears of emotion come out of Gnomusy's eyes each time he listen for this simple but deep song. (To the memory of Antonio Múgica, +1995)

SCHWARZWALD (©1996)

This song encapsulates the evocations of fresh air after a wild storm in the Black Forest (Schwarzwald).

(This song is dedicated to Almudena)

GLIMEE (©1996)

The light of a fresh morning at a medieval wood, where some white-dressed girls dance with the mild sound of a boy's ocarina, is represented here. A small waterfall driping onto a nearby pool of still water makes the accompaniment with sweet melodies for the final scene. (This song is dedicated to Mike Oldfield, my master, whose music has been the most relevant source of my artistic knowledge for years)

HAZARD (©1996)

This song travels along two strongly different scenarios, a crowdy spaceport somewhere in universe and its nearby anular park-city where a lot of childrens, peacefully playing around, ignore his fate in their journey through galaxies.(This song is dedicated to Paloma)
