This is a file of the past year's meetings - click on the month you want to see.
February 2nd 2001
It was decided today that there would be a weekly IRC meeting at the
GAUG channel on rabble (see the web site).
This will be Saturday from 7pm onwards, hopefully some of our
international members will be able to join us.
There was a lot of discussion about the Alt-Woa show.
Remainder of report is missing, sorry!
January 5th 2001
It was a quiet meeting but nevertheless was quite interesting and useful
(there were free crisps:) -- and look at the new improved website (if you
can find the ammendments - maybe we should open up a competition :).
The trip to Huddersfield was a major discussion -- we have the possibilty
of having the use of a van if there are more people wishing to go otherwise
we have four going by car. Either way I am going so there :-)
The offer closes on 15 January 2001 .
What we were going to do for our anniversary came up briefly
so turn up at the next meeting to air you ideas.
December 1st 2000
The meeting on friday -- our Christmas party went well - apart from not
being on Rabble (pity but never mind - maybe next time in January 5th).
We decided to arrange an outing to the Huddersfield Amiga Show in Feburary
- just need to find out about the cost of hiring a minibus (if anyone has
any way of getting one cheap for a couple of days) - our events
person(whatever his title is) will email HAUG to get more info
(have you done this yet?).
There was plenty of food/drink and three miggys. And we played Super
skidmarks which was good fun (without naming names, our spokesperson left
early during a race and still came in second ahead of me :-() .
The website update was another topic of discussion which has taken place - good work .
November 3rd 2000
We had a little surprise to start off with and I dont mean the fact
that we had a 700Mhz showing off the new Amiga SDK or the fact that Donald
had his website on a PC formatted disk but that we have a new member all
the way from Leith, so welcome to you once again Martin.
We had a discussion about what should happen for the next meeting and
since it would be December 1st, Christmas is on the way and so it would be
nice to have a party. I will bring in my A1200 and sernet cable (can the
scandoubler owner please bring it in so that I can use the VGA monitor -
thanks) and our gracious treasurer will bring in his macchine so that we
can have a tournament of, I will leave this a surprise for you. Can you
please either bring something to eat / drink or even both along with your
miggy if you can carry that much.
We also discussed the possibily of going to the show in huddersfield - WOA.
We might go down by car, minibus or as the website says is well served by
rail (I wonder if that will be true - bets anyone). We can discuss and
arrange the details over a glass of something at the next meeting so turn up.
There was a discussion about the lack of easy access to Amiga hardware
especially mice. If there are any hardware spares, bring them to sell/exchange
or give away (yeah, that will be right (over my dead body (do it your way then)))
(have I enough brackets? :-) )
October 6th 2000
It was great, the attendance was at nearly ten - there were two macchines
and we all learned something.
The first little while was a discussion on html and seeing a little problem
with a website which didnt display all the graphics when a counter was
included (problem solved - take out counter) then it was IRC for 3 hours.
While that was going on some were talking about Tao, SDK and the usual Amiga stuff!
Others were trying to see why the A1200 wasnt working (reason pin 43 on the
2.5" HD was broken after the whole thing was taken apart in case the
shielding was touching something / expansion board was nackered etc.)
There was a party next door so we managed to get a few nibbles :-)
September 1st 2000
I sent an email a while back saying that GoldEd v5 was free for download
but a few people said they couldnt find it and now neither can I but I did
see it - unfortunately I didn't download it hoping that it would be there
for a while... Sorry guys but not my fault, I hope, maybe I dreamed
(dreamt - cant spell ) it :-(
Attendees: three Amigas and seven people.
Getting better espescially on the Amiga front, nearly one between two.
One thing we forgot to discuss was what people were wanting from various
companies so that we could do a bulk buy - how are we going to organise
this and we will have to only include meeting attendees in this so that
they can easily pick up their package and not have to repost it abroad.
Talking about atendees: we have managed to get online at the meeting and
we're going to do so at the next meeting and if people want to attend virtually
we will be on ICQ or something like that. I'll let the more experienced
group member go into further detail but if you wish to participate and
attend our next meeting via the internet you now can (shall we also have a
subscription fee for remote attendees as well? --- for treasurer).
There have been stories of phone cable having to be a within a certain
length to stop signal degradation but yesterday we witnessed a connection
using about 2 miles of wire (50 meters roughly).
We could actually have a weekly meeting every Friday or Saturday evening
online in case there is someone with a problem but as that is why we have a
mailing list it is maybe that a bad idea.
We saw Issue 1 of the Pulse magazine which we thought was not worth the
money unless you got a free copy. There was a review of Joyride that was
given a score of 35% and we then saw a demo of it running which looks quite
good as stills but the cars move in a slightly strange way. The car
slides too much and is difficult to control. Not a game to get in my opinion.
I do love the wood finish on the steering wheel but it doesnt belong in a Lamborghini.
I have got my sick A1200 repaired, the one that freezes after about 15
minutes of working --- the solution was to disconnect the SIMM and earth
all the pins since they became polarized or had some static electricity in
there due to handling. I am happy now :-)
Donald played with his machine, showing off just because his was working,
but now my miggy is working.
Any ideas how to get past level 7 of Star Trek 25th anniversary?
August 4th 2000
Four members turned up, all without an Amiga and a new person visited -
hopefully he will be back. (as youve probably noticed I'm terrible with
names but I can place a face to a photo) .
I said that I would bring my A1200 030 40MHz that crashes after 10 minutes
of operation (hence no screen saver needed) next time if someone brings in
a scan doubler -- so that we can at least do something.
We had suggestions on doing tutorials on C4D and music software (don't think we
have speakers though, so another miggy would be useful with a monitor/ tv
or just a tv).
We discussed what the new OS would be like -- only definite answer was a
system to operate a computer or such like !
A strange bug on VistaPro was brought to our attention in that it wouldn't
work unless WB was using AGA.
We have a Payback betatester in our midst :-) -need to mug him for
a prerelease copy -- shh, dont tell him!
July 7th 2000
We discussed the opportunities of the new Amiga and the way things were
going and in what direction people preferred things to go,
i.e. I'm waiting for the Amijoe and elate to run on it.
Due to the C tutorial on AmigActive we also talked about programming. Some of us
experienced strange HD problems in the past that were enlightening.
Meeting announcements
We decided that I (Flavio) should remind members of the meeting a week,
then two days before the meeting to make sure we get a good turn out.
Also someone who is going to bring a computer
should reply to state what is being brought.
Publicity
Not sure if there is an advert in Micromart?
Group
Group Amiga to fix offers/storage -
still require people to bring in a machine.
Treasurer
Absent - so can he please contact me asap?
Website team
Donald has updated the website with a fix appearing shortly
and it is located on the Abel Gratis ISP.
Ideas for Future meetings
When we have the HDs - I can bring in my A1200 (bare) and install WB
from scratch and also a piece of software which we can do a tutorial for.
The disk mag was a bit thin so we need to take a vote to see
if making it once every 2 months is better.
Lottery grant
We looked at the PDF's and think that if we spend a little time we can
put forward a good case for funding but we need everyone's input.

Flavvy has a desktop computer idea with a difference.
If Jim Merrilees brings in his broken A1200 perhaps we can fix it.
Volunteers for members to give demos (Imagine).
If Graeme gets the hard drives we can fit one at a meeting.
AOB
Jim Markey suggested applying for a lottery grant, his local bowling club succesfully got one.
This is to be investigated and ideas put forward for what we could use it for.
Amiga Trademark -
We have recieved an e-mail from Gary Peake giving permission to use
Amiga logos, etc., provided that we mention somewhere that they are
TradeMarks of Amiga.

Meetings

May 5th 2000
Minutes
Welcome and apologies
11 members present, 3 apologies. Welcome to another new member Grahame.
Minutes of last meeting
Again (sorry) not available but outlined in brief by spokesperson,
who also apologised for conducting the meeting from memory
but due to various reasons had not had time to prepare.
Publicity
Newsletter -
Ian Fyvie has produced the first newsletter which was well recieved
by all present. The newsletter will only be as good as we
make it so all members are requested to submit items to Ian.
ClanFM -
Robert has submited an ad for them to read on the air
but no-one had heard it so we aren't sure if its been read out yet.
Group Amiga
There is a problem with stowage at the venue, this needs to be resolved.
Also the A1200 Jim Merrilees was to donate does not work,
perhaps we can fix it though.
Treasurer
A Bank account will be set up for the group with the Halifax
and the initial paperwork was signed.
Website team
The website is progressing nicely with the newsletter available for download.
Members are reminded to vote on their favorite logo either via the poll on
onelist or by mail to Duncan to allow a main logo to be selected.
Due to problems accessing the polls the deadline has been
extended until the next meeting.
Unfortunately Francis has to retire from his role as
assistant webmaster due to other commitments.
Any volunteers for this position, mail Duncan.
Permanent website/redirection -
Donald at the moment has the website on his
freeserve webspace but another location will be investigated and also
a redirection provider so we can have a sensible url.
(P.S. - Read the news page for an update on this topic).
Trip to Kickstart 27/5/00
Although people would have liked to go the general consensus was
that they would rather wait until WOA as £100 to get to Kickstart
would be better saved until then.
Constitution
Spokesperson stated he had the constitution, had yet to finish it but
hopes to do so for the next meeting.
Comment
Unfortunately there were only 2 amigas at the meeting,
(Only 1 could be used due to a forgotten power supply).
The logos were displayed eventually by a long winded process
on the PC in the corner and Jim Markey discovered that
he had a hard drive in his A1200.
Any other ideas or comments to Duncan please.

provide a draft for editing and adapting to GAUG.
A date was set for an AGM as the meeting in November.

Ideas are required for future meetings, if we can get 2 or more
suitable setups at a meeting a deathmatch/network game night
has been suggested.
