Reports

The reporting functions of iBank allow you to analyze your monthly spending, income or both based on the categories used in your transactions.

To Create a Report

To create a report, select the accounts you wish to analyze in the account list and then go to Control>Reports... (or hit command-shift-R). A little panel should pop up that allows you to customize your report analysis.

Modification

Use the "Analysis Options" panel to modify the graphical reports output. For example, if you want to see your expenses for the year to date, select the "Range of Dates" button and fill in appropriate dates in the text fields to the right. Then choose "Expenses" from the popup button. If you wish to exclude any categories, select the checkbox next to the appropriate one. Click the "Analyze" button, and voila!

The line graph option plots money through time broken down by category. The pie graph option graphs your breakdown of spent (or earned) money by category.

Output

There are two different views to the reports output. On the left is a table listing each category and the total amount you spent for each category. If you expand one of the categories you will see how much you spent on the category for each month. Selecting a category will also highlight the corresponding section of the graph in the area to the right of the table.

To get information directly from the graph, click on any node (if its a line graph) or a pie wedge (if its a pie graph) and little box will appear showing you information about that category.
