Changing your view

Unison provides four views of any individual Usenet group: Messages, Files, Images, Music. Unison will show just the items from the group that are the corresponding type. You can switch this view at any time to see the related items.

To switch between views of a group, just click the corresponding button in the group window's view button bar.

Each group offers a slightly different way to manage Usenet content.

Messages View

This view will show you text-based messages and discussion threads. By default, this view will not include file messages, and is intended just for following text-based talk.

Files View

This view will show you all posts that contain binary or file content. Multi-part binary posts - files that are split among many messages - are automatically reconstructed into single items. Furthermore, by default, Unison attempts to group files into meta groups, such as grouping MP3 tracks into albums.

Music View

This view will show you all music items in a group. Unlike Files view, which shows you all binary items, Music view will only show you files that end in ".mp3". You can also preview MP3 music in Music View.

Images View

Image view gives you a thumbnail browser for all the images posted in a group. Unlike Files view, which shows all binary items in a flat view, Images view will provide an graphical viewer to any file ending in ".jpg" or ".gif".

Not all groups offer all four types of items, so it is possible that one or more views may be empty.
