Unison Icon

Choosing where downloaded files are saved

By default, Unison downloads files to your Desktop and organizes them into folders based on the names of the groups that the files came from. You can change this behavior.

To change the location for downloaded files, choose Preferences from the Unison menu, click the Downloads, then choose "Other..." from the "Download files to" popup menu.

A sheet will appear, allowing you to choose which folder you would like Unison to download files to.

Two other preferences control where Unison downloads files:

Create top-level newsgroup folders

This preference tells Unison to place downloaded files within folders named after the group they were downloaded from. For example, files downloaded from alt.binaries.mp3 will appear in a folder named "alt.binaries.mp3" within your preferred download folder.

Create folders for item groups

This preference tells Unison to create folders for grouped items. For example, music files that are part of an album will be downloaded into a folder named after the album.
