Buttons; are areas on a screen that can be clicked on directly to initiate an
action. Most of the buttons provide the same functions as the pull-down options.
The following text displays the icon for each button and outlines its action.
Simply clicking on the icon will make selections.
Note: that as you move the pointer over the on-screen buttons, their function
is displayed underneath the button.
New - Clears the current puzzle and resets the grid to 25x20, your wordlist
is also cleared so make sure you have saved your work as no checks are done.
Open- You can open a saved crossword in a few different ways, from the
menu option, from the on-screen button, double-clicking the saved icon or "drag
and dropping" onto the main window. If you drag a text file onto the Window a
Standard Crossword will be created.
Save/As - Saves the current crossword as a complete puzzle to recall for
later use.
Page Setup - Allows you to set the Page size. This will be automatically called the first time you print any puzzle.
Print - Just as it suggests you can output the puzzle to the printer. When you click on this button a small window will appear giving you the option to print a Page Border, Solution and also enter your Puzzle Title/Footer and Instructions. Depending on the type of puzzle being printed a number of other different options can be adjusted. Click on the selection of your choice.
Import Word/Clue List - An option which will allow you to import some Tab delimited word/clue lists that you might have already prepared in another program. Very useful.
Export As HTML -Increasingly teachers are providing class material
on the web or school intranet. The puzzle generated is not interactive but presents
well in most browsers and can be printed.
Export Current Wordlist - Just in case you want to use the wordlist in
another program, this menu option will save the current wordlist to disk as
a TEXT file that can be opened in any wordprocessor or text editor.
