The Chute
While on shore leave, Tom Paris and Harry Kim are wrongly accused of terrorist activity and incarcerated. Their fellow inmates are even more aggressive than should be expected. Violence and murder are rife in the prison. The effect of the brain implant, enforced on every convict, threatens to tear apart even the Starfleet friendship. The Swarm The Doctor's memory circuits are overloaded. Should they shut him down and reactivate him, losing all that he has learned in the last two years, or can he be repaired? Simultaneously, to save a fifteen month detour, should the Captain contravene Starfleet guidlines and cross alien space, risking a devastating attack by the Swarm?
