Straying from a party enjoying the hospitality of the Nechani, Kes inadvertantly enters a sacred shrine. Her curiosity draws her on until she is unexpectedly felled by a protective force field, which leaves her unconscious. Despite all his efforts, the doctor is unable to reverse the coma.

Future's End

Voyager encounters a temporal rift and is suddenly under attack from the Federation Time Ship, Aeon. The Aeon's captain declares his mission is to destroy Voyager, in order to prevent Earth's destruction in the 29th Century. Janeway retaliates in defence, but as both ships engage in a fierce battle they are drawn into the rift and hurtled back to Earth and 1996.
