HELIOTRO.GIF 640x480 Heliotropism (1994). There are two curious facts about Vermeer. We are almost sure that he used the camera obscura, thus explaining the uncommon and unsettling " photographic " point of view of some of his paintings. It is also well established that the characters, the clothes, the furniture, the lighting, repeat themselves from one painting to another. I wanted, in a silly way, to steal some of Vermeer's spirit by stealing some of his favorite " objects ", just like a rock fan would tear a piece of his/her idol's shirt. I stole the point of view, the bare wall, the pot, the stained-glass windows, the lighting, the tiled floor. I added my own strange contribution, this light-hungry, chained, out-of-place, spiked bronze mace.
