SERIAL EXPERIMENTS LAIN

"serial experiments lain" is a new anime series from Pioneer LDC which went on air on July 6th in Japan. Pioneer is already working on a PlayStation game based on this anime, scheduled to be ready for release in Japan in late September.

"serial experiments lain" is not like other animes. I haven't seen it myself, but I was told that it has a deep psychological story, like a mix of "Twin Peaks" and "Neon Genesis Evangelion". The story takes place in Tokyo in the near future, in a society where most people are connected to the internet. People try to find some sort of satisfaction on the internet which the real world can't provide.

In the PlayStation game, the player controls a person who is hooked on the net. One day, he met a young girl on the net called Lain, and he got interested in her. As the player, you must try to find as much info about her as you can on the net, from her 11 to 14 years old's period. The game will have a lot of animation (it will use 2 CDs), but it's not an interactive anime game like "Double Cast". It is being developed by the same team behind "Noel La neige".
