This is the same as [Right-Click] on a modular icon->menu->midi-in.
The idea behind using internal midi-ports is following. Vst-parameters are specific to only one vst, midi-CC/PB/AT on the other hand can be used for multiple vst's. Both [CTRL] as [BEZ▓] panels have this midi-channel dial. This means that you can route a curve to multiple vst's as long as both correspond to the same midi-port. In short, on the [CTRL] and [BEZ▓] panels you choose the sending midi-port and on the vst side you choose the receiving port. You will notice in the modular that this kind of routing results in a dotted connection line.
(gate) opens the audio-out of the VstI (in 16ths).
