Picasa Media Detector

Picasa's Media Detector is used to find removable devices with pictures and bring them into Picasa. On WindowsXP, Picasa defers to the "AutoPlay" feature that the system provides.

The Media Detector provides a shortcut for launching Picasa: double-click it to start Picasa.

To turn off the Picasa Media Detector:

1. From Picasa's Tools menu, choose Options, click the General tab

2. Uncheck Automatically detect media. The media detector will exit and will not come back.
