WHAT IS THE TINT FILE (TM)?

  • A colour dictionary of the Four Colour Process, setting a standard for CMYK
  • Over 20,000 illustrated coloured combinations of the Four Colour Process, covering 5%-100% solid, in a book weighing less than 400g, fitting easily into a briefcase.
  • An illustration of the complete colour range, with CM & Y viewed simultaneously - allowing the user to select any colour quickly and easily.
  • The use of the BLACK printer enables accurate colour matching with darker colours.

How does the Tint File (TM) work?

Each double page spread displays all practical percentage combinations of the three colours Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. Using the colour selectors supplied with the book, the most exacting colour match can be made, by masking out the surrounding colour squares. One selector is placed over the colour sample to be matched, and the other one over the colour page in The Tint File (TM) until the colour is the same. If it requires more black, then you simply turn over the page - and the same colour will be in the exact same position, but with the addition of the black percentage.

What is TintMatch (TM), and what does it do ?

This ingenious new software-based product is the ideal accompaniment to The Tint File (TM). The digital printout that it produces, illustrates the full range of CMY colours as they appear in The Tint File (TM), on your own printer (desktop or otherwise). This allows a direct comparison with the litho-printed colours in The Tint File (TM), and gives you a practical assessment of your printers' limitations and capabilities. By referring to the black percentage bar on the TintMatch (TM) printout, and comparing this with the black bar in The Tint File (TM), your printer's performance can be measured against the full potential of The Tint File (TM)'s 20,000+ colours!

Along with the TintMatch (TM) software, we also provide four lithographically produced Colour Wheels - one for each of the four process colours, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow & blacK, finely graduated in 2% steps from 2% to 98%. The TintMatch (TM) program then prints out these four Colour Wheels through your own printer. By attaching the copy produced on your printer onto the litho-produced Colour Wheel, you can then calibrate your house printed results against the litho-printed standard of The Tint File (TM) underneath.

The Tint File (TM) illustrates over 20,000 litho-printed CMYK colours by percentage. TintMatch (TM) produces a digital printout illustrating The Tint File (TM) colours as they appear on your own printer. Together, they produce solutions to your colour selection problems - by producing Colour You Can Count On.
