This demonstration version of Quill has been specially set up to facilitate drawing with the mouse; with "Zoom" and "Smooth" already activated when the program is run. Click on the nib icon to start drawing. Finish drawing with a right button click, or by pressing the space bar. With Quill's absolute drawing mode you'll find that the drawing mouse speed increases with zoom magnification. Clicking on the word "Smooth" lets you adjust the smoothing level to suit your graphics. Limitations of demonstration version: No saving of Quill vector (QV) files or bit-image export. Drawing area is shaded grey. The full version of Quill is available from CGS - 081 679 7307 Quill - in brief: Quill is a pen-and-ink freehand vector drawing package that combines the speed and responsiveness of a painting package with the smooth rescalable output of vector graphics. It is the first program to properly emulate naturalistic drawing and writing with a shaped nib or italic pen. Quill records every flick of your pen - or mouse - and renders each stroke in flawless curves - drawn in the nib of your choice. The nib can be edited (choose square or rounded, then squash, rotate, stripe and resize) both before and after drawing - so you can mould its shape and weight to best express a particular sketch or lettering. Individual pen strokes can be moved or deleted - with the flexible zoom option allowing precise adjustments. A reversible UNDO effects all graphic operations. Quill saves in its own vector format, and exports bit image files at any size and resolution. Ideal for signatures, handlettering, calligraphy, tracing, cartoons and sketches.
