Terence and Julia Marchmont spent most of their working lives in London, where Terence, a barrister, was a partner in a leading London law firm. For years it had been the Marchomnts dream one day to retire to the coast and, when the time arrived, they started searching for a site. This turned out to be difficult to put it mildly, but their perseverance paid off and eventually they found their dream location right on the waters edge, a setting which couldnt be more breathtaking.
Julias architect brother helped them design their completely bespoke and very contemporary home, brimming with novel and attractive features. They visited the Scandia-Hus Show Centre and were impressed with the quality of the materials and service offered by the company. They discussed their proposals with Scandias technical designers and the Scandia timber-frame system was adapted to fit their design.
Terence and Julia were surprised at the flexibility of the Scandia-Hus system and, with only a few minor tweaks, they were able to build their new home exactly the way they wanted.
The vast areas of glass and angular roofs lend this home a contemporary air; and the interior design is both colourful and modern, while at the same time presenting a sense of calm and sophistication.
As part of the companys standard service, Scandia-Hus lodged the applications for planning and building regulations applications and, once these had been granted, arranged for a project manager to supervise the whole project. The house was built from start to finish in just 9 months, including the construction of a large swimming pool.
We are delighted with our new home, which totally measures up to our expectations, concurred both Julia and Terence.
