Objective: The goal of the HPCC/ESS Software Exchange is to facilitate the exchange and reuse of software. Its specific objective is to make publicly available the software products developed by the ESS Science Team.
Approach: The Software Exchange has been implemented as part of the World Wide Web (WWW). The WWW was developed at CERN as a way of facilitating the exchange of information on the Internet. The use of the WWW has grown exponentially, mainly due to the creation of the Mosaic program by the NCSA. The WWW is a collection of hypertext documents distributed throughout the world, and various Web browsers offer 'point and click' access to a wide variety of Interet resources.
Accomplishments: The ESS Project established a software repository accessible via the World Wide Web (WWW) in March on its project servers at Goddard Space Flight Center (http://sdcd.gsfc.nasa.gov/ESS) and at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Return to the PREVIOUS PAGE
