Objective
To promote tourism and space education in Hawaii.
Approach
Deliver remote sensing images of Hawaii to the public via an Internet
Web site.
- Live Video from 3 sites on Oahu and Maui plus live GMS and AVHRR satellite
images.
- Electronic "Virtual Field Trips" of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai,
Maui and Big Island.
- Clickable "Image Navigator" maps of every island showing
Landsat, SIR-C radar, SPOT, aircraft and Space Shuttle images.
Accomplishments
- Featured on national TV and in Time Magazine ads for Intel Corporation's
Pentium Chip.
- Included on Netscape's "What's Cool" for last 16 months.
- Featured in April 1996 issue of Earth Magazine.
- 1.5 - 2.2 million hits/month for last 13 months.

Significance
This is one of IITA's most accessed server's and is on track to become a
successfully commercialized application of remote sensing technology.
Plans
The effort is currently exploring options for becoming self-supporting upon
expiration of its cooperative agreement.
This agreement expires in Fiscal Year 1997.
