Icon Extractor Help

Icon Extractor makes it possible to extract the icons (or other images) from any
file. Once the icons have been extracted they are shown in the Icon Extractor
window. Then they can be saved as separate iconfiles, bitmap files or copied to
the Windows clipboard to be pasted into any document that will accept images.

Icon Extractor is drag and drop enabled. A file can either be opened manually
from the Icon Extractor File Menu or the Open File button, or it can simply be
dragged and dropped from the Windows Explorer onto Icon Extractor. Any number of
files can be opened simultaneously in Icon Extractor. The icons from each file
are displayed in a separate window within the Icon Extractor application
interface.

How to use Icon Extractor:

After opening Icon Extractor simply select "Open a File for Image Extraction"
from the File menu and use the OpenFile dialog to select the file containing
icons. Multiple image files (bitmap or icon files) can be opened by selecting
the "Open Multiple Image Files" selection on the File menu. These functions can
also be accomplished by clicking on the one of the Open File buttons in the Icon
Extractor button bar.

Since Icon Extractor is drag and drop enabled, a file (only one at a time) can
also be dragged from the Windows Explorer and dropped onto Icon Extractor.

Once a file's icons are displayed in an Icon Extractor window, individual icons
can be saved as bitmap files, icon files or copied to the Windows clipboard. Use
the mouse to select the icon. Then, right-click on the selected icon. Use the
menu that pops up to save or copy the icon. The right-click menu functions have
hotkeys associated with them. These hot keys are displayed in the menu.

Window management within Icon Extractor is the same as other Windows MDI
(Multiple Document Interface) applications by using the Window Menu or the
Window button on the button bar.
