NetTimer version 1.4 Designed and Programmed by I.D Camp =========================================================================== To print: Set the page size to A4 and the left and right margins to 5mm. =========================================================================== Purpose: NetTimer is designed for easy monitoring of the time you spend online whether you are sending mail, surfing the net or playing a game over the net, NetTimer will record it. Not only will it record the amount of time you have spent online, but it will work out the cost of the call as well and log this for later viewing. NetTimer will also keep a running total of this information. Setup: NetTimer is designed for the homeuser(s), using a modem connection but will work with any machine with a modem connected to either COM1 or COM2. Step 1. Unzip the zip file to a suitable location (i.e. c:\program files\) and while offline run NetTimer.exe. Step 2. Click on the tab 'Rates' and enter the call rate information using the sample data as a guide. Remember all rates are per minute. If you are unsure of your 'call rates', contact your phone company. Step 3. Select the day time hours for your phone company. Again if you are unsure contact you phone company. Remember to use the 24 hour clock. Step 4. Select either minutes or cost to be shown in the taskbar. Step 5. Tick the 'minimized on startup box' if you want NetTimer to startup minimized. Step 6. Select the comm port your modem is connect to. If you are unsure have a look at the modem's properties, in the control panel. Step 7. For NetTimer to work correctly make sure the system clock is set to the 24 hour clock. Step 8. Select the 'Call Log' tab and then click on 'User Prefs'. Now enter a user name in the text box and then click 'Add A New User'. Repeat this for as many times as you have users, giving each an individual name. Step 9. Go back to the main tab and select your user name form the drop down menu box. Step 10. This is optional but I recommend that you create a shortcut of 'NetTimer.exe' to the startup folder so that it automatically starts monitoring when windows boots up. This will stop you missing calls and ensure all calls are logged. Usage: NetTimer is fully automatic and runs in the background. All you have to do is make sure the program is loaded and insure the correct user is selected. NetTimer will assign detected calls to the user selected and to the 'everyone' user. The everyone user contains details of all calls made from the machine by all users. To change the user: Click on the drop-down menu box in the main tab and select a user from the list. To create a new user: Go to the 'call log' tab and click on the 'user prefs' button. Now type a name in the box provided for the new user, and click 'add a new user'. To clear a users log: simply click on the 'clear user' button in the 'user prefs' window. To delete a log: Click on the 'delete user' button in the 'user prefs' window.
