Day 075 - 17 Jan 95 - Page 30
Q. When you say "dedicated" you are not meaning in terms there
that they have a specific person who has a full-time
responsibility?
A. No, it is not a person exclusively dedicated to that,
but they have, as it were, a dedicated role to be played by
staff at various times.

Q. When you have made your observations, how long have you
stayed in any one area?
A. I suppose the length of time that it takes to
participate in an aspect of something, twenty minutes, half
an hour, something like that, I would have been.

Q. You followed them around?
A. Yes.

Q. I see. How did you do that? Did you wait outside the
store until they -----
A. I have often gone in and purchased a meal and then seen
them go out and then gone out and followed them.

Q. But, presumably, not every time that you have been in there
for a meal ---
A. No.

Q. -- you do not follow them?
A. Sometimes I have been there with my grandchildren and
it has been more important to enjoy the meal than go .....

Q. Presumably, there have also been occasions when you have
not seen the patrol, whether or not it was -----
A. Well, I would not know when I have not seen one.

Q. No, but you do not recall seeing a environment/index.html">litter patrol leave the
store on every occasion?
A. Oh, yes, I reckon on most occasions when I have been
using the store I have seen somebody going out and cleaning
up.

Q. Most?
A. Most of the time.

Q. You did not see how far they went if you did not follow
them, obviously?
A. When I have been out and discreetly followed them,
I noticed how far they have gone then and it has been far
in excess of what the law requires of them in terms of the
Street Litter Control measures.

Q. The law being 50 feet?
A. Something like 50 feet.

Q. You say in paragraph 9 that you went to Oak Brook and had
discussions with senior employees; is that right?
A. Yes.

Q. Who paid for that trip?
A. The Tidy Britain group.

Q. The Tidy Britain Group paid for it?
