  Q. You write "in 1989 of 245 trainee", sorry, "salaried
managers, 89, 34.9 per cent came from crew". Am I right
that should read "trainee" not "salaried"?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Do we find the actual salaried managers three lines below
       that, 327?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Mr. Nicholson, I would like you to look now, if you will,
at a couple of documents which I produced yesterday. The
first one, Mr. Nicholson, is a single sheet, the second one
       is a two-sheet document?
       A. Yes.

  Q. The second one is dated in the bottom right-hand corner
31st December 1988; do you see that?
       A. Yes, that is correct.

  Q. The first one.

MS. STEEL: I am not sure where we are.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I had these put in the volumes so can you
tell me where they are? I think it was 12, tab 41B and C.

MR. RAMPTON: My Lord, that is right. Pink XII, 41B and C.
(To the witness): Does the first document look like that?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. That is a single sheet?
       A. That is.

  Q. Does the second document look like that?
       A. That is correct.

  Q. Is it a two-sheet document?
       A. Yes, it is.

  Q. The first document, as we have seen, is dated 31st
December. What is the year to which the second document,
the first single sheet document, relates?
       A. It refers to 1989, and the date at the bottom, which is
half obliterated, is 21st January 1990.

  Q. So these are the figures for?
       A. The whole of 1989.

  Q. Can you tell me this, how are these documents generated?
       Where did they come from?
       A. This comes from a report that I submit to the Chief
Executive Officer when we are discussing rates of pay.

  Q. Where do you get these figures from?
       A. I get these from the information department, which
       supplies all the detail.

  Q. When you wrote your statement, paragraph 22, where did
       those figures come from?
