     3   MR. RAMPTON:  My Lord, Mr. Stein is here, but before I call him,
     4        can I mention one slight problem in relation to a document
     5        or documents that he may refer to later on -- not today?
     6        Your Lordship remembers there is an allegation about a
     7        union problem, if it can be called that, in Mexico City in
     8        1985.

    10   MR. JUSTICE BELL:  Yes.

    12   MR. RAMPTON:  It happens that there is extant filmed material
    13        relating to that incident.  The video tapes came over
    14        either with or in advance of Mr. Stein in the belief that
    15        they had been transposed into English format.  By some
    16        fluke or mechanical magic, they worked on the video machine
    17        at Barlows when we tried them.  I tried them.  Then
    18        we tried them in court this morning.  They do not work.
    19        Our belief is, in fact, that they have not been translated
    20        or transposed into English, but we are having that done
    21        today; as soon as that is done, everybody can have copies
    22        of them.

    26   MR. RAMPTON:  My Lord, that is I think all I have to say at the
    27        moment.  There are some documents relevant to Mr. Stein's
    28        evidence which I refer to today.  We have asked Mr. Stiles
    29        to put them behind Mr. Stein's first statement in your
    30        Lordship's bundle.  The first two are documents which your
    31        Lordship asked for, to which I will not make any reference,
    32        which are the Irish franchise agreement and a sample of the
    33        American franchise agreement.

    35        The last three may have some importance; they relate to the
    36        ethnic makeup of the workforce in the United States and a
    37        chart showing the hierarchy of the workforce in the United
    38        States, rather like the one that Mr. Nicholson produced.
    39        It is slightly different but Mr. Stein will explain.
