       reduction.'"

That is the committee that you were part of?
       A. Yes.

  Q. That what you were referring to before when you said that
the 30 per cent threshold could be much lower?
       A. I am not sure I referred to that before but ----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: It was part of your ----
       A. One of the snippets, I think.

  Q. Yes?
       A. I am sorry. Yes, correct.

  Q. It is a question I asked you about?
       A. Correct.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: If there is a particular point you want to
make on that article, then by all means do it, but
otherwise it was served some considerable time ago and you
can, if you wish, I suggest you do not read great parts of
that but ask the witness if he -----

MR. MORRIS: You will be glad to know there is nothing until the
last page that I was going to read.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Very well.

MR. MORRIS: There were a couple of bits and pieces.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: That article is still your view today, is it?
       A. Yes.

MR. MORRIS: Right. One thing that I was going to ask you
about: We referred earlier on in the case to the huge
Surgeon General Report 1988 about Diet and Cancer. Were
you involved in that report in any way?
       A. Yes. I was one of the major reviewers for that report.

  Q. On page 2, I wanted to ask you a question about this: The
second to last paragraph on the first column which starts
"The 1982 DNC Report", that you were involved in, yes?
       A. Yes.

  Q. In the middle of that paragraph there is a sentence: "Will
it be acceptable" -- these are questions being asked about
       nutrient supplements, and it says:

"Will it be acceptable to continue consuming a high risk
diet, especially when the individual does not know which
undetectable disease he or she wishes to avoid because of
       this diet."

Can you explain what you mean by a "high risk diet"?
       A. The diet that is high in fat, salt and sugar and low in
dietary fibre and also high in animal products, high in
animal protein which goes along of course with high animal
foods in general, lower in antioxidant nutrients.
