Day 261 - 12 Jun 96 - Page 21

MS. STEEL: The last paragraph, about halfway, two-thirds of
the way down.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: "These doors"?

MS. STEEL: Yes.

"These doors had the logo 'the McPloughman room' on a
plaque above them. I could not see what was beyond these
doors. To the right of these double doors was a small
window which was open. This casement, left hinged window
had no security locks on the frame and opened out to the
outside. I imagine that the London Gay and Lesbian
switchboard is occupied 24 hours a day."

You confirm that is an accurate record of what you noted at
the time?
A. Yes.

Q. Were you of the view that the agency might be interested in
entering the London Greenpeace premises in order to obtain
further information?
A. No.

Q. What was the point in including the information that the
window had no security locks and that the London Gay and
Lesbian switchboard might be occupied 24 hours a day?
A. Because that is what -- because the window did not have
any security locks, and that is what I imagined the London
Gay and Lesbian switchboard to be so occupied.

Q. What would be any possible relevance of that, other than to
give advice to somebody who might be interested in getting
into London Greenpeace's offices?
A. It was a general description of what I saw.

Q. I put it to you that there is no relevance other than to
inform anybody who might be interested to burgle
London Greenpeace's offices?
A. That is incorrect.

MS. STEEL: No further questions.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

Re-examined by MR. RAMPTON Q.C.

MR. RAMPTON: Mr. Bishop, I forget whether it was yesterday or
the day before, but Ms. Steel put a question to you in
cross-examination something along these lines -- this is my
note, so it may not be verbatim -- question: "If the group
agreed to do something as a group, you would have made a
notes of it, would you?" Answer by you: "Yes." Do you
remember that?
A. I remember the question.

Q. Yes. Could I ask you now to please look at some of your
notes? First of all, 2nd August. My Lord, that is
page 163. It starts on page 162.
