Day 275 - 08 Jul 96 - Page 10
Mr. Morris had sworn for the purposes of other litigation
he was involved in. And then behind that, I have put the
photocopy which you gave me of the postcard dated 18th June
1990 from Barra?
A. I think that is everything.

Q. If you want any guidance when you are giving evidence ask
for it. As you know, I am reluctant to give you legal
advice, but if you want guidance as to any procedural
matter, ask. If at any stage you think you are getting too
tired to do yourself justice say so and we will, not, I
hope adjourn for the day, but we will have a break?
A. Right.

Q. Yes?
A. Well, I will start with my statement made on 12th July
1993.

"Since about 1982 I have been involved in various
activities and campaigns to change society so that people
an animals and the planet we live on are not seen just as
the means for a majority to make their profits. I have
campaigned on a wide range of issues which concern me.
Things like housing, antinuclear strike support, animal
rights and obviously other environmental issues."

Is it okay if I sit down?

Q. Yes. Do keep your voice up even when you are reading. Try
not to go too fast?
A. Right. Should I just read the statement or?

Q. I think it would probably be better. What I suggest you do
is if something occurs to you I suggest you make some kind
of mark in the margin and then come back to them
altogether?
A. Yes, okay. Actually, if I just say that as well as
having been campaigning on various issues since 1982, my
interest in environmental matters and animal welfare goes
back further than that. Actually, when I was about 12 or
13 I did sponsored walks for the World Wildlife Fund and
Help The Aged. I did carol singing for Greenpeace
International. That was throughout the time I was at
secondary school, so that was from about age 12 to 16. But
it was not until I left school that I really got involved
in campaigning.

"During 1989 and 1990 I attended a number of meetings
of London Greenpeace and took part in some of the
activities or events organised or discussed by the group.
I actually started regularly attending the meetings in
1988. I did attend some meetings in 1987. I think my
first involvement with the group with London Greenpeace was
at the time of the reenactment of the first fleet sailing
to Australia and there were demonstrations in support of
the Aboriginal land rights and there were people who were
involved in that who were going to London Greenpeace, and
some of the activities around that were planned at London
Greenpeace meetings, and that was my particular interest
and why I started getting involved in the group. I also
