Day 295 - 06 Nov 96 - Page 02

MR. MORRIS: I have got the documents to hand over. I might as
       well do that now.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes. (Handed)

MR. MORRIS: Now, this document has been prepared by somebody
else for us, reading as much of the transcripts as they
could. Two people, in fact. It is not comprehensive. I
had a look through it last night. It is not comprehensive,
but it does have a lot of helpful references in it, to save
me having to go through them.

  MR. JUSTICE BELL: Yes.

MR. MORRIS: Generally, these people were solicitors, but there
is nothing in it which I would disagree with, I don't
think, in terms of understanding of the evidence, but
because they have come to the issue cold then some of it
       might be -----

MR. JUSTICE BELL: I will make allowance for that.

MR. MORRIS: Also, they did it very much at the last minute, so
some of the pages have come out without anything on them or
misprinted. That should be borne in mind as well. There
was not time to check. The list at the top is a list of
the witnesses, the transcripts, which they were able to
scan through and analyse. I think most of those people are
referred to in the notes and references.

Now, I am going to quickly go through some of the points in
it. I am definitely going to finish today. The only thing
is, it might be a little bit chaotic and all over the
place, because there are just sort of the bits and pieces
that have not already cropped up in what I have already
said, extra documents. I did note somewhere in this, and I
don't know if I made a - just to remember, when I come to
it, that I think Mr. Walker said they had 59 abattoirs
       supplying McKeys.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: He did, did he?

MR. MORRIS: Yes. I will come to that. I think I have made a
note of it, where it is.

MR. JUSTICE BELL: So you think you were right, were you, that
the much smaller figure that I had in mind for Mr. Oakley
was just the ones he had actually been to himself?

MR. MORRIS: I think so. He did give the impression that might
be the whole amount, but that would only serve to show how
out of touch he was with reality. Day 79, page 36, if this
reference be right, McKey gets meat from 59 suppliers.
There is also another reference, day 77, pages 20 and 21,
for that same paragraph in these notes. So it is possible
it is one of those two. It is on page 42 of this set of
notes. So one of those, no doubt, will contain that
information, if these are accurate. I am trying to
