Accepting, for a moment, your hypothesis that raising meat will be extremely expensive by 2045, how can you be sure that its rarity will make its consumption be viewed as "barbaric"? It seems more likely that meat consumption will instead be thought of as a luxury, since the price will be so high. For example, caviar is extremely rare and expensive (and tasty, for that matter), but people think of caviar as a delicacy, not as barbaric.

To me, this effect--as meat/fur/gold/oil becomes rarer it becomes more valuable, and thus, more of a delicacy--is what will ensure that meat will always be consumed, if only by the affluent and successful.
