: Can you define communism?I always thought it meant something like this:
Everybody works. All the goods are turned over to the government. The government decides who gets how much of each good. The people elect the government.
I like capitalism better:
Everybody works. You keep your goods. You trade your goods with your neighbor to get what you want. The government cannot touch your goods without your permission.
The best is the USA:
Almost everybody works. The government taks a third of the goods. You trade what's left with your neighbor to get what you want. The givernment gives it's third to the people who still don't have "enough" after the trading is done.
For inexplicable reasons, this is often confused with imperialism:
Nobody works. We find another country/race/ethinic group and make *them* work. We keep the goods.
These "definitions" are more for fun than anything else. Perhaps somebody will post a real definition of socialism, but I don't think that that will be constructive. People would just poke holes in it.
Maybe we could agree that any criticisms of any "Communist Definition" posted here MUST be accompianed by a suggestion on how to improve it. this might make the thread more constructive.
