Dear Robert,
I'm not hiostile to Christianity or religion and that has been quite recent. Over at the IWW message Board I got into a large number of skirmishes with one fundamentalist Christian guy but over time I think we're used to each other. I'm also in correspondence with another guy who is an Ex-Jehovah's Witness (as is my wife) and he is very debate literate and very much a Christian. He is also quite leftist in his views and I feel the same way on many topics as he does. My only real difference with him is that I was once a devout Baptist in east Texas while a teenager in Klan dominated region. I have also studied Gnosticism and find it quite dcompatible. Too bad those folks were mostly murdered and massacred.
I feel that the rightwing Christian fundamentalist element in US politics has really damaged efforts by other Christians to help make this world a better place. The best Christian grouping I ever ran into was when I was in prison for a few years and those guys were genuine. They were the only folks I wanted to be around in the prison system.
So I can say with some qualification that I'm not hostile to religion but is organized religion hostile to humanity's improvement?
