Capitolism is not evil, people are evil
Communism is not evil, people are evilPerhaps America did kill 5 million people indirectly. How many did Stalin kill, directly? Besides, "America" did not kill anyone. A general somewhere decided it would be a good idea starve the enemy, not a new tactic by any means. But America is not to blame.. the one who gave the orders is. Did we blame every German for the Holocaust? No, we selected those who directly participated and held them accountable.
Also, Communism didnt exactly do wonders to feed people. Ever been to Russia and seen what it got them? Ya cant blame it all on the cold war either. They had no infrastructure to get goods to market. Consequently they had full silos of rice that was rotting because the truck driver decided he didnt want to work " for the good of the state" that week. Whether the driver delivered the rice or not, he got paid.
Second point: Evil exists under any system and communism ( or socialism) is no exception. The KGB? enough said. The CIA isnt much better. My point is simple... its rarely the system and invariably those within it that corrupt and destroy. The answer lies not in reformation of Capitalism but ensuring those that make important decisions are held accountable in some way other than electing them out of office. Having up to date information on the decisions they have made is important, something Socialism within Russia was not very good about. The reason for that is simple. Communism relies on an ideal. That ideal is that people work for the good of others and not for profit or monatary gain. Unfortunately, once people found out they get paid wether they work or not.. production slowed or even halted. Parades to promote socialist ideals fizzled out. New and innovative means of production were not persued because the best minds were working on weaponry.
Was any of this the fault of the communist system, not really... its the fault of human nature within that system. Thats why communism will never come to fruition, there is no incentive to be the best within such a system. There will always be those that produce and strive for excellence no matter what and such a person would just happen to be born under communism and not capitalism...such a person would not be a product of communism so much as born with the traits it desires.
So you may ask then, why is communsism (socialism, to be exact) still thriving in China? Simple...its largely an agrarian society, most of whom farm their own plot of land for all their lives. Its not complicated, so it doesnt break down like it did in Russia. Russians had to feed poeple in large cities and those who worked in factories and weapons design plants... The Chinese basically feed themselves, they have few people they have to ship food to; which would involve trucking, storage and distribution facilities... and who wants to earn a meager wage all their lives being a "food distributor". Not many, so unhappiness sets in.
Third Point: Currently, capitalism provides opportunity to all who desire it... I cant afford to pay for College myself, so i get a loan. You may say that is a triumph of Communism, I wouldnt have to pay there. True, but my grades are not stellar either.. A's, B's and the occasional C. The communist may not want to waste a chair on someone with the occasional C.
By now your asking whats my point. Many of the greatest minds of the world have been mediocre students, but have gone on to contribute greatly. The opportunities they received under non-communist rule would not have been available..
