: It's true militant is for the most part a centrist organization, but the drive of certain individuals such as Tommy Sheridan produce positive results. By the way you took those quotes way out of context. The reason for those comments was the role of Anarchists in the demo. A bunch of Anarchists showed up at the peaceful demonstration and started some fires and some scuffles with the police. Because of this the media condemned the demo and those two, being two big names, were forced to make statements. You failed to mention that part. Don't believe everything to read in the papers. If it wasn't for the anarchist element they too would see it as a victory. I agree with everything you say about the Labour Party and I think most of Militant Labour would agree too. Why did they split from Labour in the first place?I see your point, but firstly, claiming that you will shop any one for fighting back against (or attacking) the state, is a very dodgy line to take. Also, don't believe all the scape goating of anarchists that occur after civil disorder. From the accounts I have read of the poll tax riot, it was the police who attacked the march and it was not anarchists but normal people who fought back. The anarchists are not (and never have been) strong enough in number to completely control the west end of London. I feel that the poll tax riot and the anti poll tax campagn in general, were creative and empowering steps for us in the ongoing class war.
