Communism in Russia

I am writing a paper on the downfall of Communism in the USSR. I would like to hear opinions of Russians, who lived in the USSR during August 1991, on the political situation in their country. I am interested in any well thought out opinions pro- and anti-communism and I would appreciate any help given to me.
