: I respect the fact you are very well read, and able to quote others' opinions.

I can quote myself, too. Go back and read the links attached to my post. They're the ones that are of different colors than the words of the main body of the post.

: Can you form an opinion of your own?

No, I'm sorry, I can't. I'm one of these fools who thinks (wrongly, of course) that substantiating my opinion means that I actually have an opinion worth noticing.

This is why I am completely silent on my true and unadulterated "own opinion," whereas if I actually had my own opinion, I would say things that are simplistic. Instead of quoting others, I would use short glib statements that would sound good on commercial radio or TV (when juxtaposed with lots of cool graphics and a soundtrack) but would mean nothing. Like "Capitalism is the "opposite" of communism. Socialism is the combination of both."

: Maybe if I had my opinions and thoughts published you would be quoting me as an authority on society.

How's this for a bibliographic citation: McDonald, Bob. "Worn out Library Card?" Posted on the "Capitalism and the Alternatives" debating room of http://www.mcspotlight.org, on November 02, 1997, at this Web page . Voila! you're published.
