: Greed and class division can never be avoided. These are both part of our human nature, and will not leave if the money system is abolished. Money, in current form, can temporarily be done without but it will only replace itself since we need an efficient way to conduct trade. If you can think of a way that this would realistically benefit us I'd like to hear it. Well, then here it is. You say that money is needed in order to conduct trade. But the only way socialism could truly work is if the entire world became socialist--precisely for that reason--trade. Under a socialist world, there would be no money and no trade, because everything would be owned by everyone. There would be no countries, no boundaries, just the world and its inhabitants. Oranges from the Southern regions would be shipped to the North simply because the Northerners deserve those oranges--as all are equal under socialism. In the same way, I'm sure that Southerners would recieve imported goods from around the world. But do you see what I'm saying? Yes, the money system CAN be LOGICALLY abolished, and believe it or not, the world would still turn (and we'd all be happy) without our good 'ol standby, money. And oh yes, greed and classes. Under socialism there would be no classes, because what would one person have that would set him/her aside of and above another person? Money? No. More goods? Who cares? Everybody would have the same goods to choose from, and they would only take what they needed (hoarding would be cumbersome!). So if everything is always equally available to everyone, then what would there be to envy, and what would be the definitions of class??? I'd really like to hear your take on all this. Anyone? Thank you!
