- McDonald's -Hype, not food
![]()
The first time I had a Big Mac was in Amsterdam in the early '70s. Later I tried one in the US. Yes, it really was two shoe-soles covered with old lettuce and vomit. But the whole thing makes sense when we realize that McDonald's sells hype, not food. The "food" is a pretext - the real product is Happy Meals, kee-ootsey little toys, play-rooms, Ronald, and a place (THANK GAWD) where people can take their rowdy kids and leave the restaurant diners in peace. Slander not this provider - we enjoy our dinners out a little more because McD is there. ![]() None.
