I didn't know where or to whom to express my outrage, so I
thought I'd begin with your group. I am enraged at what the
corporations are doing to this country (not to mention Mexico,
Indonesia etc. etc)...and I am aware that the following complaint
pales in comparison to some other issues. But it's another
flagrant example of corporate America's manipulation and greed:SmithKline Beecham's product, Nicorette, was recently approved for
over-the-counter sales. Nicotine, in this form, is extremely
addicting. But...and this is important....chewing nicotine gum is
a much, much better choice than smoking. So what have they done?
They have RAISED the price of Nicorette. They KNOW lots and lots
of people are going to be addicted to their product; many people will
be unable to give up nicotine (because, I think--I don't have any
proof, of course -- nicotine permanently changes your brain
chemistry.) . Since the price varies, I guess the drug distribution
companies must also be soaking up the profits. =20Anyway, I am appalled that SmithKline and other companies plan to
make huge profits from a captive audience, so to speak -- they are
no better than the tobacco companies.Faith
None.
