Sources of Fetchers and Viewers
- NOTEs
- These are in no particular order and I make no claims for their compatability or suitability.
- All links point to the original source rather than mirrors that also carry the same files.
You only need one fetcher for Each Method, some fetchers also support more than one method when configured to do so.
For use with Webster you need to select 'Call Standard Fetcher' for the Methods each Fetcher supports in the Fetchers section of the Choices Widows
- ARCWEBKA9Q - HTTP fetcher for ArcWeb and KA9Q.
- HTTPFETCH - HTTP fetcher for ArcWeb and KA9Q.
- MULTIFETCH - Multiple fetcher for ArcWeb and KA9Q.
- WEBGOPHER - Gopher fetcher for WWW browsers. (Also does HTTP, FTP and WAIS when setup correctly. The last two method require a 'Proxy' to do the actual fetch).
- FreeWeb - An HTTP Fetcher (also FTP, WAIS and GOPHER with the aid of a proxy) for FreeNet or Acorn's TCP/IP.
- ArcWebTCP - Actually part of ArcWeb (It you already have a copy of ArcWeb, it can be found in the ArcWeb$Helper$Dir directory). Although written for ArcWeb it should work with Webster as well, providing FTP, HTTP, GOPHER and WAIS access, among others. (Also available from cslib.ecs.soton.ac.uk, micros.hensa.ac.uk and ftp.demon.co.uk)
