Managing Sub-Items

A MediaFACE 4.0 project appears as a project tree. The first level of the tree represents an open project, which contains sub-folders (sub-items) and/or labels. Each label contains a set of versions. In order to arrange and modify tree structure, you can perform a set of project-oriented commands.

When working with a project you are allowed to add a new sub-item to the project tree, remove a sub-item from it or modify sub-item properties.

To add a sub-item:

1. Open a project you are going to add a sub-item to. In the Workspace Navigator select the project root or any sub-item.

2. Do one of the following:

-- Select the Project-->Insert-->New Item command from the main menu, or the Workspace Navigator (WN) shortcut menu,

-- Click the icon on the Project toolbar.

The application displays the Project Item dialog.

3. Enter the item name into the Name box (required) and an optional multi-line description into the Description box.

4. Click OK. A new sub-item will be added to the currently selected project item. If you click the Cancel button or close the dialog by pressing the ESC key, the operation will be cancelled.

To remove a sub-item:

1. Open a project you wish to delete a sub-item from. In the Workspace Navigator select a sub-item you are going to delete.

2. Select Delete from either the Project menu or WN shortcut menu. The system displays the warning message: Do you really want to remove the item <Item Name> with all sub items? with the Yes and No buttons. Click Yes to remove a sub-item together with all of its components. If any of the underlying versions have been opened, its design window is closed without prompting for saving. The parent item of the current project will be selected after the item has been successfully removed.

To modify the sub-item properties:

1. Open a project for which you wish to modify the sub-item properties. In the Workspace Navigator select corresponding sub-item.

2. Select the Project-->Properties command from either the main menu or the WN shortcut menu. The system displays the Item Properties dialog.

Example of the Item Properties dialog

The items of the Item Properties dialog have the following meaning:

Name:

In this box type a new non-empty item name (required).

Description:

Type any text describing an item (optional).

OK:

When clicked, the changes will be applied.

Cancel:

If you click the Cancel button or close the dialog by pressing the ESC key, the operation will be cancelled.

Note: For the label versions the Properties dialog has a different appearance. It contains check boxes Default and Shared and information about label background, but does not contain the Description box. As for project properties, the application shows the dialog similar to the standard file properties form.

3. Fill in the boxes in accordance with the description presented above and click OK to complete the operation.
