In the 19th Century and early 20th Century, Prado (now also known as Paseo de Martφ) was the finest street in Havana, where the city's high society and social elite would stroll during the evening and on weekends. Even today, Prado is still a wonderful (and popular) place to go for a walk – there is a marble boulevard, under cool shady trees, with old Spanish colonial apartments on either side.
