The bronzen Buddha of Kamakura is the second largest one in Japan. Only the Buddha of the Todaiji in Nara is larger; however, the Daibutsu of Kamakura is considered the more beautiful one.
The statue belongs to the Kotokuin Temple and represents Amida, the most important Buddha of the popular Jodo sect. |
