SOCCER |
The J-League is the professional soccer league of Japan. Its first season was held in 1993. Many European and South American football stars play for Japanese teams.
Amateur soccer leagues existed before 1993 and had a certain popularity, but the J-League made soccer in Japan much more popular. The big euphoria of the first seasons, however, has faded a little bit recently. The World Cup 2002 will be held in Japan and Korea. |
