BONSAI |
Bonsai is the art of cultivating miniature trees. The pine, a tree that grows many meters tall in free nature, is the most typical plant used for bonsai. But many other kinds of trees and plants can be used.
The plant is frequently transferred into new pots, and on that occasion its roots are cut a little bit. An experienced bonsai fan knows exactly when and how much the roots should be cut, how much fertilizer and water is ideal, and which branches should be shortened to give the plant an aesthetic look. Bonsai has also a certain popularity outside of Japan. |
