Experience an arctic adventure ...

Here in the Finnish back-country a very special attraction awaits you: an unforgettable safari in a dog sled in the icy cold.

Before we set off on the tour, we will give you thorough instructions for driving a team of dogs. You will find our well-trained dogs easy to work with. Once the equipment has been harnessed, off you go into the wild expanses of the tundra. Our starting point is the former border station Pukari, on the Finnish-Russian border, which serves as accomodation for us and our Siberian Huskies.

The sudden start whips up the snow between the runners, but after a while the going is smoother. You find yourself gliding quietly through the impressive landscape of Lapland. The trees on either side fly past, and the untouched tundra, with its almost uncanny silence, drive away all our everyday problems. You will see nature with new eyes and experience the feeling of being part of it.

And al the time you are relied on to take part in the work: for example, fishing through a hole in the ice. In the evenings we can chat by the crackling camp-fire and cook and enjoy the fish the fish we have caught and other Lappish specialities.

Nights are spent in the typical huts of the Wildmark. In the morning even the sleepiest of us are soon wide awake - the cool clear air sees to that. Perhaps during the night fresh snow has covered the huskies; the next day the white bumps in the snow come to life. The dogs shake the snow from their coats and can hardly wait to get going again.

The region around Kuusamo, where the transition from Central Finland to Lapland offer many contrasts, is particularly attractive. One of the many routes we can choose is the Bear Path, which is among one of the most beautiful routes in Finland.

Around Kuusamo there are plenty of opportunities for witer sports: here is FinlandÆs best known ski resort (Ruka). So here you can take a made-to-measure winter holiday; we have various tours on offer and also plan dog-sled tours and excursion programmes to meet your own personal wishes.
