The hotel has 25 high-standard rooms with all the necessary comforts. The atmosphere-rich restaurant has space for up to 150 guests. The spacious reception bar, room with fireplace and terrace offer extra space for enjoyment and relaxation. The restaurant will assure you a real taste of Lapland; salmon, reindeer, willow grouse and cloudberries among other culinary delights.
You are free to wander where your trail and fancy decide to take you. A signposted trail leaves from Laanihovi, taking you to the Urho Kekkonen National Park, among the most magnificent fells of the SaariselkΣ countryside. The adventurerÆs trail guides you along the challenging route of the gold panners over the white waters to Kruunustation on the River Ivalojoki. Between the years 1868-1870 Kruunustation was the gold pannersÆ town with its own State Boss, Tax Man, police, prison, bakery and bar, as well as workersÆ cabins and sauna. You may even find your own gold at the River Ivalojoki gold mine.
The Laanila Gold Route (Laanilan Kultareitti) is an interesting way to get to know the history of gold panning and todayÆs gold digging. The old mines tell of riches and ruins. The largest nugget weighing 392.9 g was found in 1935 from the Luttojoki river which runs near Laanihovi. The last nuggets weighing 37 g and 77.8 g were found in 1991. One of these nuggets was found from the Laanihovi Hangasoja. Clean and clear water runs past Laanihovi, ideal for trying your luck at some gold panning.
