THE WILD NORTH IN THE VALLEY OF TORNIO
The greatest salmon river in Europe that still has free flowing water, River Tornionjoki, flows through the hills and mountains forming the beautiful Valley of Tornio. The countryside of the river valley varies from treeless mountains to lush coast district. The area is owned by the states of Finland and Sweden but the language and culture are uniform. The Valley of Tornio has the purest air in Europe and to the north of the Arctic Circle the night of the midnight sun lasts several days.
The Finnish Forest & Park Service is the biggest land and water owner in Finland. In the Valley of Tornio we hold 200 km2 of water areas and 3680 km2 of land areas. To these areas of northern wilderness the Finnish Forest & Park Service / The Wild North arranges full service, guided tours: fishing and hunting trips, snowmobile tours, skiing and hiking trips, shooting of the rapids...
... unforgettable experiences in the wilderness.
