The Dolina Pieciu Stawow Polskich (the Valley of the Five Polish Ponds)
occupies the upper level of
the Dolina Roztoki
valley. It is bounded on the
north by a high ridge stretching from
Mt. Swinica
to
Krzyzne saddle and
Mt. Woloszyn,
and on the south by the main ridge of the Tatras and a side
ridge of the summit of
Mt. Miedziane.
The beauty of this valley is enhanced
by a number of lakes, among which one,
Wielki Staw,
is the biggest and the
deepest (79 m) in the Tatras. A stream coming out of Wielki Staw has the
biggest waterfall in the Tatras -
Siklawa.
