Set up in 1994 this site was the first of its kind in the UK. With the WWW in its 'infancy' there was considerable interest from wildlife organisations wanting to display their information and there was a great deal of discussion about starting up a newsgroup on nature and wildlife specific to the UK.
The intention of this site was to provide a complete directory of British wildlife with links to relevant web sites and ways of getting involved such as through your local Wildlife Trust. Unfortunately, lack of time and resources meant that the site was never developed beyond its early stages. With the rapid growth of the internet, many web sites have since appeared and several with excellent content such as Matthew Chatfield's conservation site naturenet (and his newsgroup uk.environment.conservation) and Gordon Ramel's Entomological Home Page.
Although I still do not have the time to keep this site up to date I would be happy to add a link to your site or organisation. If you have any comment on the pages or would like to ask a nature-related question I will do my best to answer although there may be some delay.
