- For many international students, the most difficult cross-cultural
adjustment occurs when they return home. This paper deals with some of the
readjustment issues faced by Indians returning home after having studied at
universities in the United States. The research on which this paper is based
stems from extensive interviews with 49 former students, focused on the family
and workplace issues these students face, their attitudes about being home,
their outlooks on the USA, and their coping strategies. This paper was
originally published in 1994, and has been presented at international
conferences sponsored by SIETAR (International Society for Intercultural
Education, Training, and Research) and IEA/NAFSA.

- Dr. Beulah Rorhlich was one of the foremost researchers in the field of
intercultural education. Based on research in association with the Syracuse
University Division of International Programs that she conducted along with Dr.
Judith Martin of Arizona State University, Dr. Rohrlich presents findings about
the role that expectations have to play in the adjustment of U.S. students
studying abroad. This paper was originally published just before Dr. Rohrlich's
death in 1993.

- For 35 years, AFS Venezuela has been operating Year Program exchanges.
This report, published here for the first time, presents the results of an
extensive survey of former exchange students from every decade. The researchers
delineate demographic and psychological profiles of the former AFS exchange
student, comparing these profiles to those of students about to depart on the
program, and to a number of other groups in Venezuelan society for which
comparable data were available.
