WHAT'S NEW WITH STUDYABROAD.COM

THE NEW FORUM IS HERE!

Studyabroad.com is pleased to announce a whole new Study Abroad Forum. The Forum is a venue for the discussion of study abroad destinations, study abroad programs and study abroad issues.

The centerpiece of the new forum is a chat and discussion boards section, the first such area on the web devoted exclusively to study abroad issues.

STUDY ABROAD DISCUSSION BOARDS

offer ongoing threaded discussions. Users post messages in category folders. These messages can then be retrieved, read and responded to by other users. Message Boards are currently set up for discussion of programs and destinations by geographic region as well as for general study abroad issues and financial aid issues. More topics will be set up as necessary.

STUDY ABROAD CHAT

is a venue for real time discussion of study abroad issues. Users can log on and "chat" with other users who are currently online. This section will be available for open discussion most of the time, however Studyabroad.com will soon offer moderated, hosted sessions. These sessions may be hosted by study abroad experts, advisors, program sponsors, students currently abroad and study abroad program alumni. Once the initial schedule for hosted sessions is established (by this Friday, February 6), it will be posted online and sent to subscribers via an e-mail distribution list.

In addition to these new features, the Studyabroad.com Forum still houses some great, less interactive, features such as the Studyabroad.com Handbook, a list of financial aid resources, a list of useful links, and more.

CHAT OPEN HOUSE

We invite the readers of this list to visit our chat room and say hi. We encourage you to do so on Wednesday, February 4 from 3pm to 4:30 pm EST and again on Thursday February 5 from 11:30 am to 1pm EST.

CHAT HOSTS WANTED

If you are interested in hosting a chat session or having someone from your organization host a chat session, send a note to Mark Landon with your name, e-mail address, and the name of your organization. This is a great way to let prospective students learn about your programs. Think of this as an online study abroad fair!

MONITOR CHAT and DISCUSSION BOARDS

We encourage study abroad professionals to regularly monitor both the chat rooms and the discussion boards. This will allow you to meet prospective students and it will give these students the opportunity to ask questions of those who know the answers.

ADVERTISERS CAN USE THEIR OWN INQUIRY FORMS

Every day more than 1,000 student inquiries are generated through the studyabroad.com system. Many of these inquiries are generated through the "free listings" portion of our directory pages. As a default, these inquiries are processed through our generic inquiry form which asks students for their name, e-mail address and their message. Studyabroad.com advertisers have the option of directing these inquiries to their own form, if one exists. If you are a studyabroad.com advertiser and you would like to have your "free listing" inquiries go to your own form, please contact Erica by sending e-mail to webmaster@studyabroad.com or by phone at 1-610-364-0400.
