Song Detect

Menu Path: Options/Settings/Recorder/Advanced When recording from an outside source like a tape recorder or vinyl album, use Auto Song Detect. This setting is useful to detect the end of songs in order to create individual MP3 files of each song. Gap Length - Determines how long a pause MUSICMATCH should listen for after a song has ended, and the beginning of the next song. On most vinyl LP's and tapes its about 1.5 seconds, or about 1500ms. You might want to cut this amount in half (750ms) to start testing, then go up from there. If MUSICMATCH hears a 750ms gap in the song it will assume the track is over and start a new file. You may have to adjust this setting to fit your specific situation.
Gap Level - Tells MUSICMATCH to listen for a certain volume level that helps determine when the track is over. Assume that while a track is playing its "volume", or amplitude is 100% (This does not mean the volume control has to be turned up to maximum. The volume control can be at minimum, however MUSICMATCH will still hear the music, and will recognize the loudness, or volume of the track as 100%). When the track has stopped playing, the volume might be only 10% because the LP or Tape will still produce 'noise' from the surface of the actual tape or LP. 10% is a safe setting for this, however you may have to adjust this setting to fit your specific situation. |
