Name Song File Using

Menu Path: Options/Settings/Recorder/Songs Directory

It's easier to find music files when they are named in a way that makes sense to you!

You can choose to name your song files using:

Track Number
Track Title

Album title

Artist name

They will be stored in the Directory for New Songs.

Example: If Sting has a new Album out called A Brand New Day, and Track 02 is Desert Rose, then you could name this file:

  • Sting-Brand New Day-Desert Rose-02.mp3

  • Sting-Desert Rose-Brand New Day.mp3

  • Desert Rose-Sting.mp3

... Or any combination of the available options (mp3 files are used as an example).

  • Go to Options/Settings/Recorder, and click the Songs Directory button.

In the Name Song Files Using box:

  • Arrange the options under Name Song File Using so they are in the order you want your files named by:

    • Highlight an option by clicking on it. A small box will surround it.

    • Click the UP or DOWN arrows to the right to arrange the option where you'd like it.

  • Now check the boxes that you want to name your files by. You can use one option, or all four.

  • In the Separator field, type in how you'd like to separate each option in the file name. We recommend that you use a dash ( - ), a space ( ), or an underscore ( _ ).

As you select the separator you can see an example of how it will look just below in the Sample Path section.

Test out different combinations on your system and find the combination that works best for you.

Customizing the naming of your song files will not affect how they are displayed in your Music Library. (Tagging)
